Housing Advisory Committee
The Wayne County Housing Coalition has been formally designated as Wayne County and the City of Wooster's Housing Advisory Committee. As the Housing Advisory Committee (HAC), the coalition meets at least annually to review the progress and implementation of the Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program and determine if any revisions are
required to meet local area needs.
Community Housing Impact and Preservation Programs are funded by a grant through the Ohio Department of Development Services and are administered by the Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority. Eligible households must be residents of Wayne County or the City of Wooster respectively, and meet the income guidelines established for the program in which they are applying. Down-payment Assistance/Rehabilitation Program This program is an effort on behalf of the Wayne County and City of Wooster Community Housing Improvement Programs and participating lending institutions to assist eligible households who are currently renting to become homeowners. The program can provide down payment/closing costs and rehabilitation assistance to eligible low-income families. Septic System Repair / Replacement (County Only) This program is designed to assist with repair or replacement of faulty septic systems for eligible low income property owners outside the city limits. Private Owner Rehabilitation Program This program is designed to assist eligible low-income homeowners make improvements to their properties. The improvements are made to bring the residence up to standards established by the State of Ohio. In exchange for the assistance the homeowner agrees to reside in the assisted residence for a specific number of years. Rental Rehabilitation Program The Rental Rehabilitation Program is designed to assist landlords with improvements of their rental properties to meet Rental Rehab Standards established by the State of Ohio. In exchange for receiving the assistance under the program, the owner agrees to maintain the unit and agrees to maintain rent amounts that are affordable to existing and future low-income tenants for a specific number of years. |

Home Repair Program
This program is designed to assist eligible low-income homeowners to make repairs that are urgent or emergency in nature. In exchange for the assistance, the homeowner agrees to reside in the assisted unit for a period of five years. |
